Craig is the head coach at Goulburn Martial Arts Academy and is the most experienced coach and competitor having attained a number world championship titles and medalist. Craig has been a coach for the Australian Team and coached many world champions.

I commenced training in martial arts in the early 90’s and haven’t stopped.

The best part of what we do, is develop people, both athletically and their character. It is an absolute pleasure to watch students gain confidence and reach their full attention.

I was 9 yrs old in 2014 when i attended my first ever martial arts class.

If the truth is to be told, from that first Taekwondo class it would take another 3 yrs - on December 9th 2017 - that I earned my Blackbelt.

I have become a stronger person, learned how to train, learned how to fight, learned how to compete, and gained confidence along the way.

I enjoy the great environment of the club and privileged to be coached by the best.

Class keeps me physically fit, flexible, improves my balance, & coordination. These are worked on in class & have only complimented my abilities in other sports. Eg.. Rugby league.

HIGHLIGHTS to date - Definitely competing at the 2019 World Championships Melbourne. Gold Medalist in the free Sparring.

FUTURE GOALS - To work on better flexibility & to compete regularly.

I do not know what the future holds but I know that I want to do as much as I can. My current goal is to achieve my Second Dan Blackbelt.

The Blackbelt was a goal, & now the Second Dan is a goal.

Why did you start Taekwondo?

Mum started me in TKD when we moved to Goulburn in 2015, I was 8yrs old.  I was looking for a new sport and I liked the thought of a martial arts.

What you enjoy about training?

I like meeting and helping new students plus having friendships that are strong and supportive. Training itself, I love sparring and breaks.

What are your future goals?

Hopefully to compete in another World Championships and meet more like minded people. I am looking at other local tournaments to increase my experience and knowledge.

My highlights over the last 5 years included:

o   Achieving my Black Belt in July 2019

o   My first local competition (I was a Yellow Belt) and I got my first medal for 1st place in sparring

o   World Championships in March 2019 when I got a Bronze for my age and weight division in sparring

Merrin Eagles

Merrin started Taekwondo in the Little Ninjas 1 class in 2013. She participated in a local tournament run by GMAA and the ITF Worlds in Melbourne March 2019 where she achieved a Bronze for sparring. I really like the family and friends atmosphere that TKD provides. Also how everyone helps each other achieve perfection. I really enjoy helping instruct in the Taekids class on Thursday. My favourite activities are sparring and breaking boards. I recently achieved my 1st Dan blackbelt and one day would like to be an instructor under the guidance of other higher Dan black belts.

Isaac Edwards

Started training as a little ninja in 2014, aged 6

Started TKD due to being bullied at school, and needing to increase my confidence.

Comp/training highlights.
Being part of the leadership program assisting senior members to teach the junior members of the club.

What I enjoy most about training would have to be the team atmosphere. Training with my friends and training companions.
Keeping fit and learning new techniques.

My future goals would be to compete in a competition (after pulling out of the world champs and a Canberra comp due to illness).
To gain a higher understanding of Taekwondo.
Short term goal is second degree Dan.
Long term, Grand Master.

Taekwondo has turned out to be just right for me.

My journey started at the age of 5. I was a keen student in the Little Ninja's program.

Taekwondo has given me something to be apart of and a purpose.

It has worked wonders for my self - esteem, my friendships, and my confidence.

I have just

recently attained my 1st degree Blackbelt. 29/ 6 / 19. I am very proud how far I have come.

I want to keep learning.

I want to keep progressing.

I enjoy competing & i am looking forward to many more competition 's in the future.

My brother has been my biggest inspiration. I would like to follow in my brothers foot steps. My brother Cooper is a 2nd degree Blackbelt.

Brendan Graham

Back in 2012 at the age of 5 I started my Taekwondo journey through the Little Ninjas program. This was the beginning of many years of training, setting goals and achieving them. My greatest accomplishment was winning a Silver Medal in sparring at the 2019 CHITF World Championships as a first degree black belt. It’s amazing to look back and see how far I have come and with my second degree grading just around the corner my journey is far from over. I love the friendships I have made. This club and my instructors are such a huge support for me and now I am learning to coach my fellow members through the Junior Black Belt Program. I look forward to future competitions and developing my skills.
